Thangu Valley at an altitude of about 13000 feet remains snow covered for most of the time of the year. The valley looks like a carpet of flowers during the months of May and June. The whole landscape turns into a valley of snow from the months of October till March.
Thangu valley is located midway between Lachen and Gurudongmar Lake. On your way to Gurudongmar Lake, this is the last civilian settlement. An annual Yak race is organized in the region and is quite popular with tourists.
