Dikchu, North Sikkim


Located just 32 kms from Gangtok at the confluence of Teesta River and Dikchu River, the small picturesque village of Dikchu has recently experienced fervour of activities. A mighty dam has been constructed to tame the Teesta here. The water level of Teesta in this little village has risen significantly and now a huge placid lake has formed which has added to the beauty of Dikchu.

The River Teesta and the huge lake formed by the dam has become a recent attraction of Dikchu. A temple located on the bank of the lake and the emerald green waters of Teesta between the gorges is probably the most photo-friendly location for tourists passing by Dikchu to Mangan.

It is a small town with a small market where you can replenish your supplies for the high altitude travel ahead. Dikchu is just a stopover on the way to Mangan and further to Lachen on Lachung with great views of Teesta and the recently constructed dam.
